The YT Mob Rocked Fort William

The legendary track in Scotland surprised everyone with dusty and dry conditions, but that turned out to be a feast for spectators only. Some of the top riders crashed hard on the slippery surface, whilst strength and physical condition were essential to win on the tough, 2.8 km long track. As always, over 25.000 downhill fans came to Fort William to watch some of the best racing of the season and help give this event its unique atmosphere.

Spaniard Angel Suarez qualified in 42nd place and showed his skills on Sunday during the race: he finished in 37th position which is a great result for the World Cup youngster. A result that Angel and the whole Mob are really proud of. For more than half of his run he showed top 15 pace but an error in the first section cost him 4 seconds. Overall a great result for the 20-year old.

Aaron Gwin ended up 3rd in qualifying and dropped in for his finals run on Sunday just before Eddie Masters and Gee Atherton. Aaron hit the final split in 4th place but powered along the famous motorway flat out to bring back two spots, finishing in 2nd place with 4:38.958 behind Greg Minnaar who took the win with a 4:35.601. With that result Aaron extends his overall World Cup lead to 68 points over Australian Troy Brosnan and nearly 200 points over Danny Hart who sits in 3rd.

Aaron said: “Overall this has been a great week for me and the team. Fort William is always a tough race and a true test for both body and equipment. I’m happy to have put down a solid run, and I feel liked a learned a few things this week that will really help me in the future. Thanks to all the fans that came out as well, you guys were awesome!”

We are quite excited to see how the Mob will now perform in this week’s race in Leogang, and of course the YT family will be on site to support the team.
